feministrocker asked: What do you think of Led Zeppelin? Do you listen to them? They've been my favourite band, for a long time - and I really do enjoy their music. Especially Over the Hills and Far Away. That said, I understand that some of their song lyrics - as well as some of their actions - can be problematic. Are you able to reconcile liking Led Zeppelin with being a feminist? Also, what do you think about the Foo Fighters? Do you think, as a band, they're quite pro-feminist?
I actually don’t really listen to Led Zeppelin but I’ve wanted to get into older bands from 70’s 80’s and 90’s. I can see how that songs is problematic. As for Led Zeppelin being a feminist, I’m not sure as I don’t know enough.
Foo Fighters are good but I didn’t really get into them. But if they’re pro-feminist I might start listening to them.
Within Temptation I’ve loved for quite a while and I’ve never found much sexism in their songs. I love their song about War (The Howling) and some of their songs tend to focus on some a woman’s story or a female fighter or love (but not specifically heterosexual love). The Unforgiven album makes me quite happy.
